SS 316 Welded Tubing is in great demand as they are designed as per raw materials of standard quality. The strength is added to the product by nickel and, molybdenum present in the grade. To be dually certified the carbon content would have to be 0.03% maximum. SS 316 is certified as a straight grade. Moreover, they have increased mechanical properties whereas; L grade in SS 316L Welded Tubing has a lower maximum carbon limit. L grade is typically able to meet lifetime project requirements as it is 100% recyclable. However, 316 other tubes are used in a more aggressive environment. SS 316L Welded Tubing due to its excellent mechanical and corrosion properties is used in process engineering, control lines and, heat exchangers. Whereas straight grade is used as Welded for pressure operations in corrosive environments. Grade 316 is considered as marine grade; however, it is not resistant to seawater. It shows excellent resistance towards oxidation at temperature up to 870° C in intermittent service and 925°C I’m continuous services. Also, it shows aqueous corrosion resistance.
